Various British Officers depicted the races and their customs, dresses and occupations. Linnaeus Tripe took a number of photographs of the various people during his tours. Subsequently William Johnson and William Henderson published two volumes on Oriental Races and Tribes. Also Captain P. Meadows Taylor published eight volumes on the people of India. The photography of the people was taken up by other Indian photographers but none on the scale of Lala Deen Dayal who produced a large body of work.
